Principal Responsibilities
- Documentation review: Review paperwork and samples for completeness, safety, treatment or disposal suitability, and compliance with all applicable regulations and permits.
- Work direction: Work under general supervision, with tasks guided by project goals or sub-function objectives.
- Problem solving: Resolve complex issues independently while seeking guidance for highly complex matters when required.
- Waste stream assessment: Identify potential waste stream concerns and direct them to the appropriate department for review or handling.
- Waste profile support: Assist with the accurate completion of waste profiles and approve material profile sheets.
- Vendor shipment coordination: Coordinate with internal departments to arrange third-party vendor shipments to alternate Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities.
- QA/QC approval: Review and approve quality assurance and quality control documentation.
- Disposal approvals: Secure approvals from final disposal facilities.
- Regulatory guidance: Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to internal staff and customers.
- Facility audits: Conduct audits of final disposal facilities to ensure compliance and suitability.
- Department coordination: Act as a liaison between operations and sales teams to support smooth waste management processes.
- Permit compliance: Ensure incoming waste is acceptable under existing permit requirements.
- Pricing support: Assist with pricing related to the safe, compliant, and legal treatment or removal of materials.
- Additional duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned or as needed.
- Waste characterization knowledge: Strong understanding of waste characterization principles, including analysis, evaluation, and waste processing protocols.
- Communication skills: Persuasive and highly effective in both internal and external communication.
- Relationship management: Strong ability to collaborate, listen actively, and manage professional relationships.
- Business perspective: Ability to understand situations from multiple business viewpoints, including regulatory, operational, and financial perspectives.
- Regulatory knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of RCRA, DOT, TSCA, and applicable state regulations, gained through at least two years of progressively responsible experience in waste disposal, chemistry, or a related field.
- Safety and hazardous waste expertise: Knowledge of current industrial safety practices, industrial hygiene, and hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal operations.
