About theRoleAs a Senior Hydrographer at LNM
1968, you'll plan and execute complex hydrographic surveys for ports, harbors, waterways, and offshore facilities. You'll operate advanced multibeam and single-beam echo sounders, process bathymetric data, and produce deliverables meeting stringent accuracy standards for nautical charting and engineering applications.
This senior-level position requires extensive experience with hydrographic survey systems, NOAA standards, and the ability to lead survey teams in challenging marine environments.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and execute hydrographic surveys to NOAA and IHOstandards
- Operate multibeam sonar, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems
- Process bathymetric data using CARIS HIPS and SIPS or similar software
- Conduct tidal analysis and apply water level corrections
- Prepare descriptive reports and bathymetric charts
- Lead and mentor junior hydrographers and survey crew
- Manage equipment calibration and maintenance
- Bachelor's degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, or related field
- 7+ years experience in hydrographic surveying
- Expert knowledge of NOAA Hydrographic Surveys Specification sand Deliverables
- Proficiency with CARIS HIPS, QPS Qimera, or similar software
- Experience with multibeam and side scan sonar operations
- Ability to work on vessels in various weather conditions
- Professional Hydrographer Certification (THSOA orsimilar)
- IHO Category A or B Hydrographic certification
- USCG Captain's license
- Experience with USACE or NOAA contract projects
