At HR Green, our Survey team plays a critical role in supporting land development, transportation, and municipal projects by delivering accurate data that everything else is built on. Our Project Land Surveyor I/II
position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across Illinois, including residential and commercial developments, roadway improvements, and municipal infrastructure.
You will be part of a growing Survey Group where your work directly contributes to project success and long-term community development.
About the RoleIn this role, you will support and lead land surveying efforts across both field and office environments, contributing to projects from initial research through final deliverables.
You will work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
This role offers a balance of technical work, field involvement, and project leadership.

What You Will Be Doing- Conduct and support research of public records related to land surveys
- Perform or assist with field surveys for boundary, topographic, and construction projects
- Prepare and support the development of easement descriptions, plats, and legal descriptions
- Generate survey plats and support subdivision platting efforts
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations
- Maintain detailed field notes, data files, and project documentation
- Lead and coordinate survey crews and office staff in completing project tasks
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with clients and internal teams
- Identify and address technical, schedule, or financial challenges proactively
- Contribute to proposal development, including estimating time and cost for survey services
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior team members
- You are ready to take on more ownership in both field and office survey work
- You enjoy working on a variety of projects from development to municipal infrastructure
- You are interested in leading teams and mentoring junior staff
- You value accuracy, problem solving, and delivering high quality work

- At least five years of progressive experience in land surveying
