Consor is seeking a Roadway / Drainage Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced transportation professionals on roadway, highway, drainage, and multimodal projects for ADOT, counties, and municipalities.
We're looking for a motivated engineer who is eager to learn, develop technical skills, and gain experience across both roadway and drainage disciplines. Whether your long-term interests ultimately lead you toward roadway design, drainage engineering, or a combination of both, you'll have the opportunity to build a strong foundation while contributing to projects that make a lasting impact on Arizona communities.
Projected Compensation: $75,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation for candidates with significant experience beyond the minimum requirements may be considered above this range.
Hybrid Work Schedule
:
Team members are expected to work from the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with flexibility to work remotely on Thursday and Friday, subject to business and project needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Support roadway and drainage design for transportation projects.
- Assist with engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design development.
- Prepare roadway alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and construction plans.
- Assist with stormwater, drainage, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses.
- Prepare quantities, cost estimates, exhibits, and technical reports.
- Coordinate with roadway, drainage, traffic, structures, survey, and utility teams.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Support project delivery from planning and preliminary design through final design and construction support.
- Assist with quality reviews and adherence to ADOT and local agency standards.
What You’ll Need:
- 2-5 years of transportation, roadway, drainage, or civil engineering experience.
- Familiarity with engineering design principles and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of Open Roads Designer, Micro Station, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HY-8, or similar engineering software is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Internship or co-op experience with a consulting engineering firm, DOT, municipality, or public agency.
- Exposure to roadway, highway, drainage, stormwater, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ADOT standards and specifications.
- Experience preparing engineering plans, calculations, or technical reports.
- Participation in ASCE, ITE, ACEC, or similar professional organizations.
- Interest in developing expertise in roadway design, drainage design, transportation project delivery, and project management.
This hybrid job operates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones and copy machines. May require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, hazard, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.
