This is an intermittent (hourly) position.
** Successful candidates in these temporary appointments may be appointed from a few days up to one year depending on the assignment. Temporary appointments must end on or before the end of the fiscal year (June 30th of the following year), with the possibility of renewal. Please note that this position is limited to working 1000 hours per fiscal year.

Position SummaryThis posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified applicants for temporary, part-time, or intermittent Athletics game-day positions. Selected applicants may be hired to perform one or more of the game-day roles listed below based on their qualifications, experience, and the operational needs of the Athletics Department.
Under the immediate supervision of the Athletic Director and in collaboration with the Broadcast Director, Game Operations Coordinator, and Sports Information Director, the Casual Worker performs non-bargaining unit work that is temporary, part-time, or intermittent in nature.
Assignments are based on the Athletics schedule and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCasual Workers support Athletics events in one or more of the following game-day operational roles:
- Play-by-Play Announcer: Provides live commentary, game action, and relevant context for athletic broadcasts.
- Public Address Announcer: Delivers official in-venue announcements, player and team introductions, game information, and other event-related announcements.
- Statistician: Accurately records, maintains, and reports official game statistics in accordance with applicable sport-specific rules and procedures.
- Game Clock, Shot Clock, and Scoreboard Operator: Maintains accurate game timing, scoring, and other game information in accordance with applicable sport-specific rules and procedures.
- Broadcast Assistant: Supports the technical and operational needs of live productions to help ensure broadcasts run smoothly and professionally.
These roles contribute to the accuracy, coordination, presentation, and overall success of Athletics game-day operations. All Casual Workers are expected to follow applicable institutional, conference, and sport-specific policies, procedures, rules, and expectations.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience working in collegiate, professional, or organized athletics, with an understanding of game-day operations, event procedures, and the fast-paced nature of live sporting events.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Previous experience working in intercollegiate athletics.
- Previous experience in one or more of the game-day operational roles listed above.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or the continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
