Brave New Spaces (BNS) is an arts, culture, and workforce development organization rooted in San Francisco.
We build ecosystems for event creatives - providing space, infrastructure, and community for the next generation of diverse producers, artists, and cultural curators.

Brave New Spaces is excited to have received our first TWO grants to fund our new Event Lab programming. We are now looking for a new contract Program & Events Manager to help us bring this bold vision to life - for 6 months of programming - through a series of innovative live events bringing diverse communities of all ages together downtown.

Each month, The Event Lab features two free public events:

• BNS Unplugged: An intimate, community-centered live music experience spotlighting Bay Area musicians and performers, with priority to BIPOC, Queer, and women artists.
• The Production Room: A monthly hands-on, interactive workshop series for event producers, curators, and production creatives. Facilitated by experienced practitioners, The Production Room is knowledge sharing meets strategic networking and problem solving.

Brave New Spaces is hiring a part-time Program & Events Manager to serve as the operational backbone of the Event Lab, a new two-track event incubator. The Event Lab pairs free public programming - monthly BNS Unplugged concerts and Production Room workshops - with a residency track giving six emerging BIPOC, Queer, and women-identifying producers subsidized venue access at 447 Minna to develop, test, and scale original event concepts.

This role is ideal for someone who loves event production and wants to help build a launchpad for the next generation of Bay Area culture-makers. You’ll manage the logistics behind our self-produced public events over six months, coordinate a cohort of resident producers (in partnership with Executive Director), and help keep 447 Minna running as a creative studio.

This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who thrives in creative, fast-moving environments, as well as someone who stays hyper-organized with spreadsheets and Google docs.

Organized Event Producers who love building community and curating meaningful experiences are encouraged to apply.

This role is best suited for a highly self-directed professional who thrives with autonomy. You’ll set your own goals, take full ownership of your work, and be accountable for deliverables. You’ll be a strong partner to the Executive Director, managing up by setting meeting agendas, surfacing decisions that need her input, and keeping priorities moving forward.

• Execute production logistics for two monthly anchor events:
  • The Production Room (November
    - April)
  • BNS Unplugged (November
    - April)
• A/V logistics or hiring A/V staff
• Artist Booking/Scheduling
• Coordinate Registration & Ticketing logistics with Marketing team
• Signage and printing as needed
• Budget management
• Load in/out
• Vendor payments through our fiscal partner accounting team
• Manage our Studio Intern and assign them tasks as needed.

• Support and promote the Open Call application and selection process for the 6-producer resident cohort
• Onboard resident producers and manage their scheduling and venue access at 447 Minna
• Track the cohort’s event calendar (an estimated 2-3 producer-led events per month) and serve as their point of contact for venue logistics (they do the producing, Executive Director does coaching, you do the scheduling)
• Assist with post-event wrap: attendee counts, feedback collection, and basic metrics tracking for impact reporting
