Temporary hourly-intermittent temporary position available on or after November 1, 2026 for the Music Department. Appointment will be made for 1 year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment and/or becoming permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
This position's responsibilities are carried out under general supervision. The incumbent provides musical accompaniment from written musical scores in support of instructional, rehearsal, and performance activities within the Department of Music. The incumbent performs standard music for assigned classes and rehearsals, provides musical demonstrations under faculty direction, and may provide accompaniment for departmental performances and events.
Job Duties- Perform piano accompaniment from written musical scores for applied lessons, studio classes, master classes, and assigned rehearsals.
- Prepare assigned repertoire and sight-read music to support instructional and performance activities.
- Work with faculty and students to ensure accompaniment needs are met for scheduled activities.
- Perform piano accompaniment for student performances, performance classes, juries, and other music department events.
- Participate in rehearsals associated with assigned performances.
- Support departmental performances through accompaniment services as assigned.
- Perform musical demonstrations and accompaniment during instructional activities under faculty direction.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of music for lessons, classes, rehearsals, and performances.
- Perform other accompaniment-related duties and projects as assigned.
- May be required to obtain additional training and/or certification as part of professional development, based on department and/or campus needs, to stay current with industry standards.
- At the direction of appropriate administrator, may provide support to other areas as needed.
- The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this classification.

Education:None required.
Experience:Experience which has led to a familiarity with accompanying technique or any combination of experience and training which has led to proficiency as a musician.
Preferred Qualifications- One (1) years of providing piano accompaniment for vocal/ instrumental instruction, rehearsals, performances, or related music activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in music, or related field.
- Prior experience in a CSU or higher education setting.
- Experience providing piano accompaniment in support of applied voice/ instrumental instruction and student vocal performance activities.
- Experience accompanying music students during studio classes, master classes, recitals, juries, or similar performance-based activities.
- Experience working with multiple vocal/ instrumental performers while supporting faculty-directed instructional and performance activities.
- Experience preparing and performing vocal repertoire within scheduled rehearsal and performance timelines.
- Experience providing accompaniment services in a music department, conservatory, community arts program, performing arts organization, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of harmony.
- Knowledge skill in playing as an accompanist.
- Ability to sight-read music.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Experience which has led to a familiarity with accompanying technique.
