Federal Loan Coordinator
The Federal Loan Coordinator is responsible for administering federal student loan programs in compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. This role ensures accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting of federal loans while supporting data integrity and regulatory compliance. The coordinator contributes to the overall effectiveness of Financial Aid operations through collaboration, student support, and continuous process improvement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Process federal Direct Loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and PLUS), including certification, disbursement, adjustments, and cancellations.
- Review and determine student eligibility for federal loan programs in accordance with Title IV regulations.
- Monitor loan records and resolve discrepancies, rejected records, and processing errors.
- Maintain accurate and complete loan records in institutional and federal systems (e.g., COD, NSLDS).
- Ensure compliance with federal (Title IV) regulations and institutional policies.
- Support audits, program reviews, and required reporting by maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Counsel students and families on federal loan options, borrowing limits, and repayment responsibilities.
- Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and external agencies in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support accurate student account and enrollment reporting.
- Stay current on regulatory updates and support implementation of process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial aid administration.
- Experience working with student information systems.
- Knowledge of federal student aid programs and Title IV regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with Workday Student.
- Experience with federal loan systems such as COD and NSLDS.
- Experience with reconciliation, reporting, or audit support processes.
- NASFAA credentials or other financial aid certifications.
- Regulatory compliance and attention to detail.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving.
- Communication and student‑centered service.
- Organization and time management.
- Collaboration and cross‑functional partnership.
