General Function
Selected candidates will become a Retail Personal Banker I after completing a 4-8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service. The program culminates in a certification that demonstrates the skills required to perform successfully in the Retail Personal Banker job family. The role focuses on using a consultative sales process to proactively identify and meet the financial needs of customers or prospects.
The Person al Banker I maintains a focus on acquiring new households and/or deepening existing customer relationships through a variety of activities including lobby leadership, aisle time, and tele–consulting. The position processes teller transactions and works as a member of the platform staff, consistently managing risk to deliver a positive customer experience.
- Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build thorough customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products/services and recommend appropriate solutions using the bank’s value proposition.
- Use CAMP and other approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews.
- Primarily focus on cross‑selling to the existing customer base and engage in outside sales activities (e.g., Membership Advantage onsite presentations, business sales calls, community financial literacy events) as directed.
- Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial and Investment) and refer customers appropriately for timely, holistic financial solutions.
- Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals, contributing to year‑over‑year revenue growth measured by the Financial Center P&L.
- Provide guidance to CSRs regarding the sales and referral process.
- Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism.
- Act with confidence by answering customer questions and owning customer issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of all business information and adhere to the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Follow established policies and procedures when opening/servicing the full range of Retail products.
- Participate in the consumer loan and bank card process, owning sourced loans from application through closing.
- Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial Center Manager.
- Keep up to date on Retail procedures designed to mitigate fraudulent activity and unnecessary risk or exposure.

Qualifications- College degree or work experience that provides transferrable skills, or a combination of education and experience.
- Preferred experience in the financial industry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop comfort with sales activities designed to acquire new customers and/or cross‑sell to established customers.
- Ability to analyze credit and financial information using advanced math functions.
- Professional appearance and effective verbal/written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Retail policies and procedures to exercise sound judgment in decision making.
- Requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
Normal office environment with extensive computer screen use. The program requires travel within the affiliate for training and scheduling flexibility, as well as occasional travel outside the affiliate for classroom training sessions.
