** Role overview
** Star Mountain Capital, a ~$4.5 billion AUM private investment firm focused on the U.S. lower middle-market ($5-$50M EBITDA businesses), is hiring a Managing Director to lead origination and underwriting for its private equity strategy. The role is fully remote within the U.S.
** Key responsibilities**- Originate, evaluate, and lead execution of control and minority equity investments in U.S. lower middle-market businesses
- Drive the full investment lifecycle: sourcing, due diligence, structuring, valuation, and closing
- Lead negotiation of purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, and equity documentation
- Partner with management teams and boards on value creation strategies, including add-on acquisitions
- Evaluate and execute secondary investments, including acquisitions of PE fund interests and operating company portfolios
- Cultivate relationships with intermediaries, executives, co-investors, and limited partners to build proprietary deal flow
- Monitor portfolio company performance and mentor junior investment professionals
** Qualifications**- 12+ years of private equity experience, focused on lower middle-market leveraged buyouts ($5-$50M EBITDA)- Demonstrated track record leading control-oriented equity investment underwriting and execution
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Experience negotiating purchase agreements and governance frameworks
- Willingness to travel nationwide for deal sourcing and board participation
** Compensation & location
** Remote (U.S.). Discretionary annual bonus; the firm is 100% employee-owned with long-term wealth creation participation for all U.S. employees. Star Mountain manages ~$4.5B AUM across private credit, private equity, and secondaries strategies focused on the U.S. lower middle-market.
