Position Summary

The Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) & Captive Analyst will support the design, analysis, implementation, and ongoing optimization of captive insurance programs and other alternative risk financing solutions for clients. This role is ideal for an analytically minded professional interested in the intersection of insurance, finance, actuarial analysis, and risk management. Working closely with brokers, consultants, actuaries, captive managers, underwriters, and clients, the Analyst will assist in evaluating risk financing alternatives, conducting financial analyses, preparing client deliverables, and supporting captive feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Captive & Alternative Risk Analysis Support captive feasibility studies, including loss data analysis, financial modeling, and benchmarking.
  • Assist in evaluating existing captive programs and identifying optimisation opportunities.
  • Analyze client loss history, exposure data, and program structures to support alternative risk financing recommendations.
  • Prepare financial comparisons between traditional insurance placements and alternative risk transfer solutions.
  • Financial Modeling & Data Analytics Build and maintain financial models to evaluate captive performance and potential returns.
  • Analyze underwriting results, claims trends, retained risk costs, and total cost of risk.
  • Support actuarial reviews and interpretation of loss projections.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations that translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Client & Market Support Assist in the preparation of client presentations, proposals, and renewal strategies.
  • Coordinate with captive managers, fronting carriers, reinsurers, and other service providers.
  • Research market trends, captive domiciles, and emerging alternative risk solutions.
  • Participate in client meetings and support project execution.
  • Program Implementation & Administration Support the implementation of new captive programs.
  • Assist with documentation, governance requirements, and project management activities.
  • Coordinate data collection and information requests across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor program results and assist with stewardship reporting.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred 5-8 years of experience in insurance brokerage, risk consulting, actuarial analysis, finance, accounting, captive management, or a related field.
  • Exposure to captive insurance, alternative risk transfer, self-insurance, or reinsurance concepts.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or other analytical tools.
