Job Details Job Title | Consumer Loan Officer
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for developing Old West’s Consumer Loan portfolio by promoting quality services to existing members and actively soliciting new loans. This role ensures adherence to lending policies and compliance with applicable laws while fostering member satisfaction and community engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe information provided below encompasses the functions and capabilities linked with this position.
Duties and Responsibilities- Satisfactory completion of all basic Credit Union required CPD’s.
- Interview members and potential borrowers requesting consumer loans, refinances, or rewrites of existing consumer loans.
- Evaluate and interpret financial information provided by consumer loan borrowers, such as tax returns and financial statements.
- Maintain compliance with Consumer Lending Policies and applicable laws, adhering to sound analysis and lending practices.
- Become familiarized with all Old West Federal Credit Union lending policies and risk rating procedures.
- Prepare and coordinate the execution of required consumer loan documents.
- Respond in a timely manner to inquiries and questions related to consumer loans.
- Analyze loan requests and prepare the requests for approval.
- Collaborate with Collections/Loan Adjusters to address delinquent loans.
- Become and serve as an Oregon Notary Public.
- Cross-sell and promote OWFCU services to members and the community.
- Resolve complaints ethically and actively and professionally engage with members, ensuring excellent service.
- Answer the telephone by the second ring in a welcoming and respectful manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, credit union policies, and procedures.
- Participate in departmental duties, trainings (e.g., security, robbery, and disaster recovery), audits, meetings, and/or committees as requested or required.
- Support departmental and organizational team goals.
- Represent the Credit Union with integrity and contribute to a favorable public image while fostering professional and community relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of BSA, OFAC, and Customer Identification regulations, following policies and procedures.
- Travel to other branches as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or another equivalent.
- Lending experience preferred.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, such as the ability to effectively convey and receive information professionally in writing, over the phone, and in person.
- Strong computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, word processing, and database skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate initiative and strong organizational skills, including effective time management and task prioritization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and member information.
- Exhibit leadership skills by effectively leading and working with individuals and/or groups at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations governing lending and collection practices.
- Firm understanding income and credit analysis with the ability to analyze information and make sound loan recommendations and decisions.
- Ability to understand and review collateral perfection and follow through with documentation requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
- Exhibit a professional, businesslike demeanor including a work ethic consisting of punctuality and accuracy.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, scanner/fax machine, copier, telephone, and general office supplies.
