Heitman, a global real estate investment management firm founded in 1966, is hiring an Associate for its Private Real Estate Debt group within Portfolio & Asset Management, based in Chicago. The role supports management and oversight of a portfolio of commercial real estate debt investments spanning senior mortgages, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity, working closely with Portfolio Managers and senior investment professionals.
Responsibilities- Responsibilities include overseeing the debt portfolio across senior, mezzanine, and preferred equity strategies; preparing and monitoring annual business plans for debt investments across multiple investor clients; ensuring compliance with client investment management agreements; preparing management and investor reporting and conducting portfolio analytics; supporting investor and consultant meetings and the due-diligence process; reviewing property appraisals and preparing internal valuations; assessing collateral performance through periodic on-site asset reviews;
managing loan monitoring with a focus on early-warning risk rating; presenting quarterly portfolio reviews to the Investment Committee and to investors; and participating in troubled-loan workout situations as needed.
Candidates should have 1-3 years of real estate experience including valuation work, a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or real estate, and proficiency in Argus, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The role is based in Heitman's Chicago office under a hybrid work arrangement, with moderate travel required, offering broad exposure to institutional real estate debt investing across property types and markets.
