Power South Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems in Alabama and northwest Florida. Power Souths member systems provide power to end-use consumers across 51 counties in Alabama and 10 counties in Florida.

The purpose of this position is to assist in the development and implementation of Power Souths annual operating budget, wholesale power rate, 20-year financial forecast and other financial duties as needed. This position requires a Bachelors degree in Accounting or a closely related field and the ability to analyze and interpret accounting reports and data as well as communicate effectively through both oral and written means.

• Calculates, obtains and analyzes operating, maintenance and fixed cost for the annual operating budget to determine total cost of service.
• Accurately calculates billing data variables used in the annual wholesale power rate to ensure recovery of revenue required to meet Power Souths financial targets.
• Obtains and analyzes construction and capital expenditures from all departments for the annual budget to determine future cash flow needs.
• Calculates, obtains and analyzes projected operating, maintenance and fixed cost to determine total cost of service for the long range financial forecast plan.
• Calculates billing data variables used in the long range financial forecast plan to ensure the recovery of revenue required to meet Power Souths financial targets.
• Obtains, calculates and analyzes construction and capital expenditures for the long range financial forecast plan to determine Power Souths future cash flow needs.
• Performs monthly analysis of financial statements to ensure adequate margins are recovered to meet Power Souths financial targets.
• Completes special projects such as the addition of new loads, change in generation plans, and change in expense to determine the financial impact to Power South.
• Develops financial planning software as needed to enable Power South to be more efficient in the future.
• Responsible for ensuring the success of Power South by promoting teamwork, group goals and objectives, properly communicating and cooperating within the Power South organization and with member systems as well as demonstrating and promoting standards of respect and dignity, accountability, integrity, and trustworthiness.
