The Pricing Manager is responsible for ensuring system-generated pricing supports Area margin goals through effective field execution. This role partners with Market and Location leadership to align pricing with sales strategies, drives adoption of pricing tools and best practices, and uses analytics to guide decisions and influence behavior. Acting as the link between strategy and execution, the position ensures pricing is competitive, consistent, and delivers profitable growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Partner with Area, Market, and Location Leadership to understand sales strategies, customer dynamics, and margin objectives.
- Translate Area-level direction into actionable pricing activities at the Market and Location level, ensuring alignment with financial goals and competitive landscape.
- Support tactical system implementations, including SAP deployments and Pricing Engine upgrades, ensuring pricing strategies are accurately translated into system capabilities and field execution.
- Work directly with local teams to implement best practices and execute tactical pricing activities that deliver credible, market-relevant prices.
- Drive adoption, consistency, and compliance with system-generated pricing, reinforcing pricing governance and standards.
- Leverage available analytics and reporting to inform decisions, identify opportunities, and drive behavior changes that improve pricing performance.
- Drive Markets to include customer pricing discussions and decisions as a standard part of the quarterly planning process.
- Reduce reliance on customer-specific pricing by optimizing product category price levels on customer records.
- Drive updates to pricing matrices based on market conditions, with a focus on capturing margin premium on slow-moving and low-demand items.
- Drive non-stock pricing improvements, ensuring appropriate margin premiums are established and consistently realized across Markets and Locations.
- Work closely with the Sourcing team to ensure cost advantages are maintained and properly reflected in pricing, while supporting margin performance.
- Support Retail pricing and competitive positioning by ensuring new items are properly designated as retail, priced appropriately to market, and that labels are accurate and consistently executed.
- Act as a key liaison between Markets and the FSC – Pricing team to stay informed on best practices, tools, and system capabilities.
- Provide structured, actionable feedback to FSC – Pricing team on system performance, tools, processes, and analytics to enhance pricing effectiveness.
- Serve as the local pricing subject matter expert, coaching teams on pricing principles, tools, and expected behaviors.
- As needed, supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
