PositionDescription:
The Business Office of the Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire an Accountant III to support the University Housing and the Resident Experience (UHRE) department. The accountant performs all financial analysis and accounting operations for the University’s Foundation-owned resident properties (which are aside from normal University financial activities) working directly with Foundation stakeholders and lenders as well as University stakeholders.
The accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with limited supervision including analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and vacancy loss. The accountant also processes expense allocations, monthly accruals, and amortization of prepaid expenses; records adjustment journal entries; and performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
Prepares, coordinates, and documents financial analysis projects such as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, and working capital
Provides analysis for forward-looking financial and business-related projects; prepares forecasts and analysis of trends in finance, general business conditions, and other related areas; identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior management
Creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately
Processes expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and records adjustment journal entries
Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations including bank statements, accruals, and prepaid expenses
Prepares accounts receivable analysis and reports
Records revenue and receivables
Reviews general ledger accounts for accurate transaction posts, ensuring they match intended budget locations; reviews budget to actual reports on a monthly basis
Analyzes monthly financial reports comparing actuals to budget to ensure accuracy; discusses monthly activity with Foundation stakeholders and Senior Director to ensure expenses are aligned with budget
Assists Foundation Senior Director for Capital Projects & Administration with preparation of external financial reports to include University and University Foundation
Troubleshoots and resolves any discrepancies
Assists in accounts payable process, audits and budget process
Maintains fixed asset reports including tracking, input, and depreciation of assets
Prepares various financial statements and reports for the Foundation and Senior Director
Prepares property proformas for existing book of real estate and future developments
Performs and analyzes month-end closings
Performs general forecasting and planning
Performs variance analysis to support financial statements
Takes charge of year-end and ad hoc internal and external audits
Performs ad hoc analysis and projections by location and vendor
Assists in developing analysis and presentations for senior management
Prepares monthly financial statement reporting package for assigned properties
Reviews rent rolls, accounts receivable reports, and related reports
Reviews and reconciles G/L accounts
Maintains general ledgers for a portfolio of properties
