PRIMARY PURPOSEThe Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring an assigned portfolio of commercial banking relationships, including CRE, C&I, and Small Business lending relationships. The role partners with Commercial Lenders, Credit Administration, and senior management to provide credit analysis, underwriting support, risk assessment, and ongoing portfolio monitoring while maintaining asset quality and supporting profitable growth.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of commercial credit, underwriting, portfolio management, or commercial banking experience.
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT & CREDIT ADMINISTRATION- Manage an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate (CRE), commercial & industrial (C&I), and small business credit relationships.
- Perform ongoing portfolio monitoring to identify credit risks, deteriorating trends, covenant compliance issues, and growth opportunities.
- Maintain accurate risk ratings in accordance with Bank policy and regulatory guidance.
- Monitor loan maturities, annual reviews, covenant requirements, exception tracking, and other portfolio servicing requirements.
- Assist in managing problem credits and developing action plans to address emerging risk concerns.
- Maintain and update watch list credits and provide ongoing reporting to management.
- Analyze business and personal financial statements, tax returns, cash flow performance, borrowing capacity, industry conditions, and collateral valuations.
- Prepare credit memoranda for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and annual reviews.
- Evaluate borrower performance, repayment capacity, guarantor strength, and overall creditworthiness.
- Assess loan structure and compliance with internal policy, regulatory requirements, and sound banking practices.
- Partner with lenders to identify credit solutions while balancing growth and risk management objectives.
- Act as a key partner to Commercial Lenders throughout the credit approval and portfolio management process.
- Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and relationship strategy discussions as appropriate.
- Communicate credit observations and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Provide guidance regarding credit policy, underwriting standards, and portfolio management best practices.
- Contribute to department initiatives focused on process improvement and portfolio quality enhancement.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial credit analysis, cash flow analysis, collateral evaluation, and loan structuring.
- Strong background in CRE, C&I, and small business underwriting and lending.
- Ability to manage a high-volume portfolio while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with commercial lending software and financial spreading tools.

Working conditions are those of an "open" office environment, which can require the ability to manage some stress such as noise level from clients, employees, and general office equipment, etc. Daily use of wrists, hands, and fingers to use computer, telephone, fax, copier, and general office equipment.
