JOB FUNCTION
The Core Banking Operations Specialist I supports the effective administration of deposit operations through transaction processing, account maintenance, operational controls, and compliance-related activities. This role contributes to the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of core banking functions while supporting departmental standards, regulatory requirements, and service expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process, review, and validate daily operations reports and service events, including officer changes, returned mail maintenance, interest check processing, and related balancing activities. Ensure all work is completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established bank procedures, internal controls, policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor deposit account activity and account maintenance requests to identify required updates, documentation needs, or potential compliance concerns. Escalate exceptions, discrepancies, or unusual activity to management or the appropriate business area for review and resolution.
- Assist with the preparation, review, and maintenance of audit requests, operational documentation, and supporting records. Ensure documentation is complete, organized, and available to support internal reviews, external audits, and compliance requirements.
- Respond to inquiries from branch personnel and internal departments regarding deposit accounts, transaction processing, account maintenance, operational procedures, and bank policies. Provide timely, accurate, and professional support while ensuring responses align with established procedures and service expectations.
- Review and support Safe Deposit Box transactions by verifying documentation, transaction accuracy, and adherence to applicable operational procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with dormant account processing, including account review, documentation, tracking, and required maintenance activities in accordance with bank procedures and applicable compliance requirements.
- Assist with account charge-off processing by reviewing supporting documentation, completing required maintenance, and ensuring charge-off activities are handled accurately and in accordance with established approval and control procedures.
- Support daily tax reporting activities for the bank by assisting with data review, report preparation, exception follow-up, and documentation needed to meet required reporting timelines and accuracy standards.
- Provide check order support by assisting with order review, issue resolution, vendor communication, and follow-up with branch personnel or internal departments to ensure customer and operational needs are addressed effectively.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with a related degree, or 2 years of experience in banking operations or a closely related field.
- Experience with deposit operations.
- Knowledge of deposit products and related banking regulations, including Regulations CC, D, DD, and
E.
Supervisory Experience
- None
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with vendors such as Jack Henry & Associates, Chex Systems, Sarma, Vericast/Harland Clarke, and HC3.
Education/Skills/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
