Location: Northern

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support federal credits and incentives engagements related to sustainability and ESG.
  • Advise clients on opportunities under Internal Revenue Code programs, including carbon capture, investment tax credits, production tax credits, alternative fuel refueling credits, Opportunity Zones, and New Markets Tax Credits.
  • Identify client eligibility, assess potential benefits, and provide guidance on applicable requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
  • Apply sound judgment and a quality-focused approach when evaluating client fact patterns and credit eligibility.
  • Work with technical specialists to develop processes, materials, and benefit calculations.
  • Collaborate with advisory, consulting, and member firm teams on valuation studies, tax equity modeling, and life cycle assessment studies.
  • Identify issues, recommend solutions, and support process improvements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of client materials such as presentations, executive summaries, credit calculations, tax forms, supporting documentation, memoranda, and IRS audit responses.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax updates and help identify new client opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
  • Support internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.
Team Overview

The team consists of tax professionals focused on helping clients advance sustainability initiatives. National Federal Tax Services is a Deloitte Tax practice that provides planning and compliance support to large organizations across industries. Gi3 is one of its fastest-growing service lines, known for an entrepreneurial approach and a focus on delivering measurable client value.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model, including in-office collaboration 2-3 days per week.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, engineering, environmental studies, geology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, or 2+ years with a master’s degree.
  • Active professional accreditation, such as CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, PMP, CFA, Professional Engineer, or GRI certification, where applicable.
  • Strong analytical, research, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build internal and external relationships.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, depending on client and project needs.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree such as MST, LLM, JD, or a related qualification.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Experience with tax research tools such as CCH, Hein, Lexis, or RIA.
  • Experience with federal, state, or local credits and incentives.
  • Knowledge of sustainability technologies or environmental sciences.
  • Previous experience with a Big 4 firm, large CPA firm, or law firm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
