The Town of Yarmouth, MA is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Treasurer/Collector.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of treasury and collections principles and practices, as well as knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws related to the collection and investment of municipal funds. This position requires a high level of organization, discretion and independence.

Working under the general supervision of Director of Finance, the Treasurer/Collector performs the duties as described for the Division.

• Perform complex professional, supervisory, administrative and technical work in treasury and collections and managing the operations of the Treasurer/Collectors division; all other related work as required.
• Oversee daily operations of the Treasure/Collectors division and supervises staff
• Support all activities and responsibilities of the Collector including billing, receipt and collection of property taxes (real and personal), motor vehicle excise taxes, boat excise taxes, and other miscellaneous receivables.
• Prepares monthly reconciliation of all cash and all bank accounts and the timely preparation and submittal of all cash reports to the Commonwealth as required by statute or regulation.
• Assists Finance Director and senior management in developing long- and short-term borrowing plans with support from the Town's financial advisor and bond counsel; prepares annual debt service budget for review; processes timely payment of all debt obligations.
• Possess or obtain certification as a Treasurer/Collector
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Proficiency with Financial Management Systems (munis is a plus)
• Ability to be bonded

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or a related field; a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of related work experience,; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
