Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Tax Manager will report to the Director of Tax Reporting. This is a remote role that requires effective collaboration with tax colleagues, internal business partners, and third-party service providers across global locations and time zones.

In this role, you will manage assigned U.S. federal income tax compliance work streams. Your primary focus will be the preparation and review of federal income tax return schedules, estimated tax payment calculations, and supporting work papers, as well as related coordination with internal partners and third-party service providers. You will also support domestic components of Amgen’s income tax provision and associated tax rate forecasts and assist with selected state income tax compliance review activities.

You will apply sound tax judgment, stay current on changes in the business and tax law, proactively identify process improvements, and responsibly use automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to strengthen the accuracy, efficiency, controls, documentation, and scalability of domestic reporting and compliance.

• Manage assigned components of U.S. federal income tax compliance, including return schedules, estimated tax payment calculations, and supporting work papers.
• Coordinate data collection and issue resolution with Tax, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, business partners, and third-party service providers.
• Prepare and review assigned domestic components of Amgen’s income tax provision under ASC 740, including current and deferred taxes, permanent and temporary differences, uncertain tax positions, and supporting analyses for financial reporting.
• Support current-year and extended tax rate forecasts, provision-to-return analyses, and balance sheet and cash flow explanations.
• Assist with the review of assigned state income tax returns and related apportionment data.
• Review selected U.S. business license and annual report filings, as needed.
• Support federal and state tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and tracking information requests.
• Maintain assigned tax reporting documentation and support the collection of entity and other information used in global reporting, as needed.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvements, including opportunities to responsibly use automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools, to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, controls, documentation, and scalability across domestic tax reporting and compliance processes.
