POSITION DETAILSThe Financial Aid Manager for Systems at Kingsborough Community College reports to the Director of Financial Aid or designee. The Financial Aid Manager is responsible for the administration, oversight, and coordination of financial aid systems, federal and state financial aid programs, and related operational processes. The position ensures compliance with federal, state, CUNY, and College policies and regulations while supporting the timely and accurate delivery of financial aid to eligible students.
The Financial Aid Manager serves as a key resource for financial aid systems, federal program administration, compliance, and the resolution of complex and escalated financial aid issues. The Manager works collaboratively with Financial Aid staff, College departments, CUNY Central Office, and external agencies to resolve system and program issues and maintain the integrity and accuracy of student financial aid records.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervises full-time and part-time Financial Aid staff, currently overseeing a staff of ten, including assigning and monitoring work, providing training and guidance, reviewing work for accuracy and compliance, and addressing operational issues.
- Oversees the administration of federal student financial aid programs, ensuring that federal requirements, CUNY policies, and College procedures are properly implemented.
- Manages and oversees Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements for federal student aid, including the review and processing of SAP determinations, appeals, and related student inquiries.
- Administers, monitors, and troubleshoots CUNY financial aid systems, as well as federal and New York State financial aid systems, to ensure the integrity of student financial aid databases and the timely and accurate delivery of financial aid funds.
- Serves as a primary systems resource and troubleshooter for complex financial aid issues, identifying system-related problems, researching causes, coordinating resolutions, and communicating system impacts to Financial Aid staff and College stakeholders.
- Resolves escalated issues involving federal financial aid programs, including Direct Loans and Pell Grants, and works with appropriate CUNY and federal entities when issues cannot be resolved at the College level.
- Assists with the implementation of new financial aid regulations, system changes, federal and state requirements, and CUNY initiatives.
- Provides comprehensive financial aid counseling and assistance to students and parents, particularly in connection with complex or escalated financial aid matters.
- Represents the Financial Aid Office at meetings, committees, training sessions, and other College, CUNY, and professional forums as assigned.
- Assists the Director of Financial Aid with the development and implementation of office policies, procedures, operational plans, and special projects.
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.
