Creating a Better, Safer KentuckyAt the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women, the mission is to promote safety for the citizens of the Commonwealth by operating an efficient adult correctional institution. Our main purpose is to provide a safe,secure, humane environment for its residents and to prepare incarcerated felons for a successful reintegrationinto society using constructive classification, employment training programs and treatment services and socialprograms.
The Classification and Treatment Officer is vital to this mission by performing duties in the evaluation,assessment and counseling of inmates.
- Interviewing, evaluating and assessing inmates to identify behavioral patterns
- Develop case history on inmates
- Serve on committees to determine classification
- Prepare reports to assist with classification
- Provide daily counsel to inmates regarding the institution as well as personal or family matters
- Respond to inmate requests and outside agencies

Working ConditionsWork is typically performed in an office setting within a correctional institution.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
