Salary Range: $51,085 - $83,263

Starting Salary: $51,085

This is a full-time salaried position with a flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the District 12 Office and community engagement activities. The selected candidate will be required to attend monthly evening community meetings. Work hours may be adjusted to accommodate these evening commitments.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The District 12 Constituent and Community Services Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for constituent services, leading efforts to address and resolve constituent inquiries, concerns, and service requests in a timely and effective manner. This role acts as the principal liaison between the Council member and a broad range of stakeholders, including residents, community organizations, neighborhood associations, and City agency representatives, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring responsive government services.

As an official representative of the District 12 Office, the Liaison attends community meetings, civic events, and stakeholder engagements on behalf of the Council member when appropriate, strengthening the office's visibility and community presence. The position also supports the office's communications strategy and team by distributing timely updates and important information to community partners and stakeholders, as well as capturing photos and videos of the Council member at public events and meetings to support outreach and public engagement initiatives.

SUPERVISION

Supervision Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Council Technician.

Supervision Exercised:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serve as the lead for constituent services by responding to, tracking, and resolving constituent inquiries, concerns, and service requests in a timely and effective manner.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Council member and key stakeholders, including constituents, city agency liaisons, community organizations, and neighborhood leaders.
  • Coordinate and support special projects and initiatives, including collaborating with interns and volunteers as assigned.
  • Support the office’s communications team and outreach efforts by distributing time-sensitive information to community organizations and stakeholders, as well as capturing photographs and videos of the Council member at meetings, events, and community engagements.
  • Conduct site visits to neighborhoods and areas of concern to assess conditions, document issues, and provide accurate information to support the Council Office’s response and advocacy efforts.
  • Constituent services (responding to and resolving complaints and inquiries)
  • Serving as a liaison between the Council member and stakeholders (constituents, agencies, community leaders)
  • Representing the Council member at meetings, hearings, and community events
  • Conducting legislative and policy research
  • Coordinating or supporting projects, including work with interns or volunteers
  • Monitoring or supporting office budget and expense tracking
  • Recommending or supporting policy and administrative initiatives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • A bachelor’s degree is highly preferred, although three (3) years of experience in community service work, program coordination, or a related field can be considered.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
BACKGROUND CHECK
  • Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.
