We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Assistant / Associate Land Use Planner
to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning or a related field and will assist in managing entitlement processes, project management, and regulatory compliance for a variety of development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process land use, zoning, and building permit applications for projects within the City of Los Angeles and other jurisdictions as needed.
- Conduct thorough project research, including zoning and land use analysis, site visits, and preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and planning documents.
- Coordinate and manage the development review process to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including zoning laws and environmental requirements.
- Interface with clients, city officials, architects, engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders to effectively navigate and advocate for project goals.
- Track and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within scope.
- Stay current on local zoning codes, land use regulations, environmental review processes, and policy changes that could impact project development.
- Attend and participate in client meetings, city hearings, and project-related meetings as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on strategic planning initiatives and policy research to support the firm’s growth and project portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 2-4 years of professional experience in urban planning, land use, project management, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the California planning framework, including CEQA, zoning codes, and development entitlement processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing technical reports and presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS/mapping software; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently as needed.
- Must be organized, proactive, and flexible in a fast-paced work setting.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation for occasional travel within Los Angeles.
