Purpose of Position
The Washington County Probation Services Department is seeking to hire a full-time Probation Officer I within the Adult Division. This is criminal justice work at the full performance level. Work involves investigating and supervising adult offenders in the community. Assignments and day-to-day work are very policy driven and carried out in accordance with general work instructions, including established probation practices and procedures, and applicable legal standards or regulations.
Work may involve exposure to unpredictable conditions; applicants will be required to pass defensive tactics training, intermediate weapons training, and the firearms certification process within six months of hire. A final offer of employment is contingent on the applicant passing a full background investigation, psychological assessment, required clearances, drug screen, and pre-employment physical requirements.
A bachelor’s degree is required for this position attained through an accredited college or university with major coursework in the social sciences, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field.
