The Columbia County Auditor’s Office is seeking a full-time Deputy Auditor to process payroll, conduct vehicle licensing operations, and assist with elections.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with department heads and elected officials to ensure time sheet accuracy, processing payroll using financial software, maintaining employee pay records, sending quarterly reports to state agencies, performing vehicle licensing transactions for the public, and helping process ballots during elections. The role requires attention to detail, patience, and a willingness to take direction and learn from mistakes.

• A two-year college degree, or a high-school diploma (or equivalent) plus relevant experience.
• An accounting or payroll background is strongly preferred, as is experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Willingness to attend one out-of-town, multiple-day training or conference per year is required.
• Experience with Fair Labor Standards Act compliance, vehicle licensing, and/or customer service a bonus.
