Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to perform on-site inspections of property, structures and premises to ensure compliance with the Warren County Property Maintenance Code and other Ordinances. This role requires the ability to work independently in the field, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions requiring discretion and knowledge of various codes and regulations. The Code Enforcement Officer must also collaborate effectively with team members and coordinate with other agencies.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
  • A background in military, law enforcement, and/or conflict resolution is preferred
  • A valid KY drivers licensed is required
  • Knowledge of Warren County roadways preferred
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and web-based systems
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
License/Certification

Must obtain (within 12 months of hire) and maintain the AACE Code Enforcement Officer certification.

Compensation & Schedule

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $55,000.00. Monday-Friday, day shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Utilize a county-issued vehicle to investigate complaints of alleged property maintenance violations (e.g., tall grass, accumulation of rubbish, inoperable vehicles, vacant structures)
  • Conduct field inspections and document findings
  • Meet with citizens to explain code requirements and discuss compliance options
  • Maintain accurate records and case files, including written inspection reports
  • Perform dispute resolution and conflict management
  • Monitor case progress and conduct re-inspections to ensure compliance
  • Issue Notices of Violation and citations as needed
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Code Enforcement Board
  • Maintain and update records using web-based case management software
  • Perform other duties as assigned
