State Government Relations Manager – Sales Remote · Remote

As Alynea scales into new states, the volume of state legislative and regulatory activity is growing quickly, and we need internal point people who can own it. The State Government Relations Manager is a hands-on, relationship-driven role: you will be a recognizable face for Alynea with state legislators and their staff, help manage the outside consultants who handle much of the day-to-day work, and make sure Alynea’s interests are represented in every state where we operate.

This is a foundational hire on a small, fast-moving team. It is an ideal fit for someone with state-level government experience who wants real ownership and room to grow as the function scales. This is intentionally not a senior, national-strategy role; it is a ‘build relationships and execute’ role for someone early in their government relations career.

• Serve as a recognizable, relationship-oriented point of contact for state legislators, their staff, and other government officials.
• Represent Alynea in person at committee hearings, receptions, meetings, and industry conferences, including on short notice.
• Manage or co-manage relationships with state-level lobbyists and consultants, equipping them with the information and materials they need to advocate effectively for Alynea.
• Track legislative and regulatory timelines across multiple states, and manage the logistics required to keep every commitment on schedule.
• Deliver product demonstrations and prepare or present briefing and sales materials when Alynea is brought into a meeting.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and compliance developments as engagements move from pilot programs into procurement, and help the team navigate them.
• Partner closely with internal leadership, surfacing what they need to know and be prepared for as activity unfolds across states.

Requirements

• Direct experience in or around state government (for example, working in a state legislature, a statehouse or agency, a state-level campaign, or in state government affairs or advocacy).
• Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, and genuine comfort being a public-facing representative for the company.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently, often on short notice, to be on the ground where and when it matters.
• Excellent organization and the ability to juggle competing timelines and logistics across many states at once.
• Confidence in presenting and giving product demonstrations, or the ability to get up to speed quickly.
• A working understanding of how state and local government operates, and sound instincts for how to navigate it.

Nice to Have

• Existing relationships with state legislators, legislative staff, or lobbyists.
• Experience in large or complex states, where understanding multiple levels of government is essential.
• Familiarity with our current priority states, including Texas, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, and New Jersey.
• Startup or other early-stage experience, with comfort operating in a fast-paced environment that changes quickly.
• Exposure to government technology, permitting, regulatory, or public-procurement environments.

This role requires significant, frequent travel, often on short notice. Being physically present with legislators, officials, and consultants at hearings, receptions, meetings, and conferences is a core function of the job, not an occasional add-on. Candidates should be comfortable with a schedule that can change quickly and may require being in a different state within a couple of days.
