A Commitment Records Specialist Supervisor is the supervisory level of work establishing and maintaining commitment records files and resolving problems in the calculation of Incarcerated Individual’s commitment, jail, and prison sentences. Employees in this classification ensure compliance with State laws, court orders and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Employees interact with the public, Incarcerated Individual attorneys and officials to provide information and resolve concerns.
Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Commitment Records Specialists.
Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a Commitment Records Specialist Manager, a Warden or Assistant Warden or other designated headquarters staff. The work may be performed in a correctional facility environment.
Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to work on evenings, weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Three years of experience in reviewing, verifying, and interpreting information in order to make determinations and resolve problems involving the calculation of prison sentences in accordance with applicable laws, and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. One year of this experience must be in leading the work of Commitment Records staff.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
3 to 5 years of Experience making informed work decisions in accordance with court policies and legal regulations across Circuit and District Courts to prepare judiciary paperwork, including commitments and releases utilizing MDEC and OCMS.
3 to 5 years as a law clerk working in the State or Federal Circuit or District Court.
