As a Commercial Code Compliance Inspector
, you’ll perform advanced inspection and enforcement work involving residential, commercial, mixed-use, vacant, unsafe, and deteriorated properties. You’ll independently manage cases from initial inspection through resolution, helping property owners understand requirements and take meaningful steps toward compliance.

This is a role for someone who combines technical knowledge with sound judgment, strong communication, and a commitment to public service
. You’ll interpret codes and ordinances, investigate complex conditions, prepare legally defensible case records, coordinate with multiple City departments, and work with property owners, attorneys, contractors, design professionals, and community stakeholders.

• Hiring Salary Range:$46,818–$65,915 annually
• Final salary and classification will be based on qualifications and experience.

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• The position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable FLSA requirements.
• Work includes both field inspections and office-based case management, documentation, and coordination.

• Make a visible difference. Your inspections and enforcement work help protect health, safety, property, and neighborhood quality.
• Own your cases. Independently manage routine and complex cases from initial inspection through resolution, referral, or closure.
• Use your technical expertise. Interpret codes, ordinances, property records, occupancy information, and enforcement history to determine appropriate action.
• Solve challenging problems. Work on complex property conditions and collaborate across departments to identify practical paths toward compliance.
• Build valuable relationships. Interact with property owners, tenants, businesses, contractors, attorneys, design professionals, City staff, and community members.
• Develop others. Provide field guidance, coaching, training, and technical review to other Code Compliance Inspectors.
• Support safer neighborhoods. Help address unsafe, vacant, deteriorated, nuisance, and repeat-offender properties.
• Grow your expertise. Participate in continuing education and professional development while building experience in municipal code enforcement.

The Commercial Code Compliance Inspector performs advanced inspection and enforcement work with limited supervision.
