Public Works Technician - Forestry

The Village of Oswego is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Technician in the Public Works Department. This position will be assigned to the Forestry Division, responsible for maintaining the Village’s parkway trees, among other duties.

The salary range for this position is $61,010-$84,103 annually in accordance with the Local 150 collective bargaining agreement. Pay at a higher step on the scale will be considered for applicants with previous relevant experience.

Public Works Technicians support other divisions within the department, including assisting with road maintenance and operating the Village’s water utility, to ensure the health and safety of the community. All Technicians share responsibility for snow removal from public streets and assisting with Village special events.

A high school diploma or equivalent, and 1 to 3 years of work experience in the construction trade, forestry, or related experience, are required. Candidates must also possess a valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment. Previous work experience with a government agency or public utility is preferred.
