Position: Registered Nurse – Community Nursing - The Vaccination Service
Location: Headquarters

Overview

The Role:

NHS Lanarkshire’s Vaccine Service is seeking motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to support the delivery of vaccinations across the life course, with a specific focus on the Baby Immunisation Programme. You will provide person-centred, evidence-based care to infants, children, young people and adults, supporting the safe and effective delivery of national vaccination programmes.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver baby and childhood immunisations in line with national guidance and NHS Lanarkshire protocols
  • Provide vaccinations across all routine programmes (childhood, adolescent, adult and seasonal)
  • Complete clinical assessments, review vaccine histories and check for contraindications
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with parents and carers, offering support and reassurance
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and use relevant IT systems
  • Follow vaccine storage, cold chain and stock management procedures
  • Work collaboratively within the Health Visiting and multidisciplinary team and wider primary care services
  • Promote vaccine confidence and uptake through effective public health messaging
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control

What we'll need you to bring
  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) with valid NMC registration
  • Ability to deliver safe, person-centred clinical care
  • Strong communication skills, particularly with families and carers
  • Confident decision-making within scope of practice
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence

It would be great if you also have
  • Experience delivering vaccinations
  • Experience working with babies, children or within paediatric settings
  • Knowledge of the National Immunisation Schedule
  • Experience in community or primary care settings
