The Therapeutic Support Specialist (TSS)

The Therapeutic Support Specialist (TSS) supports the implementation of client treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed therapist by providing direct behavioral interventions, crisis management, and social-emotional skill development. The role ensures a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and educators, and assists with assessment, treatment planning, and data collection. The TSS promotes client growth through daily skill reinforcement, maintains compliance with organizational and regulatory standards, and fosters positive, strength-based relationships with clients and families.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • A High School Diploma or GED with one year in behavioral health field is required.
  • Proficient ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Ability to interact with patients, families, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to assess and provide for the day-to-day needs of children ages 0-5, struggling with mental, emotional, social, and/or developmental difficulties.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining client records.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with mental health professionals and educators in a team environment.
  • Foster a safe and therapeutic community environment.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and families.
  • Provide direct client care, guidance, and positive role modeling.
  • Experience working with individuals from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
