Travel Speech Language Pathologist

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist for a 13‑week travel assignment in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages, creating and implementing individualized treatment plans, documenting progress in the electronic medical record, educating patients and caregivers, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, maintaining infection control protocols, and engaging in quality assurance and professional development activities.

Essential Work Functions
  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings and patient goals, employing evidence‑based practices.
  • Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, providing supportive counseling as required.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care.
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while ensuring patients’ comfort during therapy sessions.
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speech‑language therapy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist License in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA/ARC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Experience in speech‑language pathology; new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Other certifications or licenses relevant to the position.
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency with PC skills.
Physical, Interpersonal, Technical, Mental, and Sensory Requirements
  • Physical:
    Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Interpersonal:
    Must work effectively with a variety of personnel and present a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Technical/Motor:
    Must grasp and perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and assist with procedures and department equipment.
  • Mental:
    Must cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines, work under close supervision, handle irregular schedules, and sustain continuous concentration to detail.
  • Sensory:
    Must possess visual acuity and the ability to effectively communicate.
