Driver​/Transporter

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Resident Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and

from scheduled medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings.

• Assist residents with entering and exiting the vehicle, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, and other

mobility devices.

• Ensure all residents are properly secured using seat belts or wheelchair restraints.

• Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the facility transportation vehicle(s).

• Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report maintenance needs promptly.

• Maintain accurate transportation logs including resident name, destination, and time of departure and

return.

• Communicate appointment times and transportation schedules with nursing staff and administration.

• Provide courteous and respectful interaction with residents, families, and healthcare providers.

• Follow all facility policies, infection control guidelines, and safety procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

• Assist with additional facility-related tasks when transportation duties are completed, as assigned.

EDUCATION / REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to assist residents with transfers when entering or exiting the vehicle, push

wheelchairs and assist with mobility devices.

• Must be able to lift or move items up to 25-50 pounds when necessary.

• Must have/maintain a safe driving record.

• Must comply with all facility policies and procedures.
