Location: Lebanon

Overview

Performs direct patient care including assessment, evaluation, and basic life support in accordance with the goals of Mercy Health System, the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, Standard of Care, and Employee Code of Conduct. EMT‑I’s may also perform clerical, dispatch, and maintenance duties as required, and perform related duties as assigned.

Position Details
  • Licensure
    : EMT license for the state where employed; valid driver’s license.
  • Experience
    :
    Applicants must be at least 19 years of age to operate Mercy EMS vehicles.
  • Certifications/Registration
    :
    Hazmat Awareness, BLS for Healthcare Providers, NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 90 days of hire.
  • Shift and Schedule
    :
    May be required to work differing shifts and schedules.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements
  • Unimpaired mobility to respond quickly to ambulance, access patients in difficult terrain, climb stairs, and work in close and dangerous environments such as damaged vehicles.
  • Ability to partner to carry equipment and patients.
  • Perform strenuous physical tasks such as CPR and lifting/moving equipment and patients in varied environmental conditions.
  • Perform required medical skills and techniques.
  • Correctable vision acceptable for day and night operation; color acuity adequate; read medication dosages on drug labels and syringes.
  • Ability to hear and understand information from patients, family, bystanders, breathing sounds, and to determine auscultated blood pressure; differentiate separate conversations in active/distracting environments; hear and understand radio traffic when responding with lights and sirens.
  • Speak clearly, enunciate, and communicate verbally with patients, families, and other emergency services personnel in loud or stressful conditions.
  • Successfully satisfy the physical demands of the role, including pre‑hire and annual fitness for duty tests.

  • Mobile and portable communications equipment
  • Monitor / defibrillator / pacer
  • Approved stretcher, stair chair, backboard, scoop type device, variety of bags and kits
  • Assigned ambulance, computer, fax, printer, and other office related equipment
Preferred Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • ITLS or equivalent training
