Job Summary

  • The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.
  • Incumbents perform routine direct patient care activities following established policies and procedures in a manner conducive to the safety and comfort of the patient.
  • The PCT performs observations of patients and reports changes in patient condition to the registered nurse.
  • The PCT performs specific skills including phlebotomy and point of care testing (POCT).
Qualifications
Education Requirements
  • Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Experience
  • Direct patient care experience preferred, but not required for employment.
Certification and Licensure
  • BLS Certification
  • If hired for the Transitional Sub-Acute Unit (TSU) at Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital (RHRH), PA Nurse Aide Certification
