Overview

Groups is a rapidly growing healthcare company providing evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder through group therapy and medication. Medical providers are key to our multidisciplinary careteam, which uses telemedicine extensively. Providers deliver direct care, manage medications, and prioritize member safety and engagement. In addition to these duties, Senior Staff Providers support the medical team by providing “curbside consultations” and day-to‑day support for escalations, providingcross‑coverage for part time and 1099 medical providers, developing and delivering training materials for medical providers, partnering with operational leaders and medical directors on change‑management initiatives, and ensuring quality of care through chart reviews and direct observations.

Responsibilities

Summary
At Groups, the senior staff provider provides essential support and backup for our team of providers.

They also serve as the primary medical consultants for the non‑medical members of the care team. The senior staff provider will manage a team of contract and staff providers across multiple locations. The senior staff provider will have a mixture of direct care and administrative management responsibilities, averaging out to 50% direct care and 50% administrative management.
Essential Functions:Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Direct member care duties
  • Adhere to clinical policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
  • Manage a panel of members, acting as their dedicated continuity provider, reviewing care plans and medication at each group visit, or more often if required.
  • Provide direct care to members inclusive of group, individual sessions, and Initial Provider Evaluations‑reviewing medical histories and assessing appropriateness for care.
  • Provide coverage for makeup groups, individual sessions, and initial evaluations.
  • Conduct individual sessions to review progress and provide evaluation and management (E&M) services as necessary.
  • Conduct on average 10-12 hours of face to face member care per week- combination of services listed above
  • Assess each member's medical needs and determine if they are appropriate for treatment according to Groups Recover Together's clinical models, policies, procedures and manuals.
  • Prescribe medication for opioid use disorder and other approved medications, as needed, following Groups Recover Together's policies and procedures and practice guidelines.
  • Review and sign all generated prescriptions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with community providers and agencies to support members as needed.
  • Offer cross‑coverage for colleagues and answer medical questions when other provider are unavailable or cases require review.
  • Act as a medical consultant for interdisciplinary care team meetings (intercom).
  • Participate in the on‑call schedule for urgent prescription coverage typically on a Saturday per month for 2-3 hours
  • Delegate access to the state’s prescription drug monitoring database to allow Groups staff to monitor member access to controlled substances, according to clinical protocols.
  • Complete high‑quality, thorough, and accurate documentation for all medical encounters on the same day, as outlined in Groups policy.
  • Maintain patient records confidentially and complete records as required by HIPAA and other applicable laws and regulations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned medical providers, ensuring quality care aligns with policies and procedures.
    • 10-20 Contracted providers and/or up 4 FTEs of Staff Providers
  • Maintain expertise in Groups' policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Navigate complex clinical situations and “gray areas”; consistent with Groups' philosophy and medical practice guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for medical concerns and escalations.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, education, and supporting new and existing providers.
  • Conduct chart reviews and direct care observations, providing feedback to assigned providers and supporting Medical Directors as deemed appropriate.
