Physical Therapy Assistant – Full-time

Haskell Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant to support outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, including swing bed services.

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant will provide treatment according to established plans of care, document patient progress, and help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence.

• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Texas
• Ability to perform duties under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and accurately document patient care
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Physical strength, stamina, coordination, and judgment necessary for safe patient handling
• Ability to work effectively with patients, families, clinicians, and other members of the care team
• Familiarity with Medicare requirements is preferred

• Provide physical therapy treatments to outpatient and inpatient patients according to treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, balance activities, gait training, and other treatment interventions
• Observe and document patients’ responses to treatment, progress, and changes in condition
• Communicate patient updates and concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Work with nursing staff, clinicians, and other care team members to support inpatient rehabilitation needs
• Educate patients and families on exercises, equipment use, mobility, and safety as directed by the Physical Therapist
• Prepare treatment areas and ensure necessary supplies and equipment are available before each session
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized rehabilitation environment
• Occasionally participate in community events and outreach efforts promoting rehabilitation services
