Your role at BHSN:

As a Family Peer Advocate
, you will act as an advocate for parents and link them to resources in their community when deemed appropriate and when programmatic resources permit. Coordinate and implement family support services as identified through the CFTSS (Children & Family Treatment and Support Services) and CHCBS (Children’s Home and Community Based Services) plan process. Utilize a strength-based family-centered approach to problem solving in collaboration with multiple community child and family providers.

Your day might look like:
  • Provide individual and/or group CPST (Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment) and PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) services, as permitted by credentials, scope of practice, and training, to an assigned caseload in the home of the child/family or community to most effectively support the recovery goal of the child
  • Provide CPST services that deliver evidence-based therapeutic and crisis intervention services to youth with behavioral and emotional challenges and their families using supportive counseling and solution focused interventions, emotional and behavioral management, psychoeducation and problem behavior analysis to help prevent out-of-home placements, psychiatric hospitalizations, and other higher levels of care
  • Provide PSR services (when needed) that deliver a variety of age-appropriate skill building activities and coping skills in the youth’s natural environments
  • Participate in the development, writing and timely completion of treatment plans, progress notes and other required documentation in accordance with State/federal regulations, program requirements and BHSN policies and procedures
  • Create integrated treatment plans that include all CFTSS service types indicated for each child and family served and utilize assessment tools to track progress toward treatment plan objectives
  • Maintain direct service productivity target and meet or exceed any monthly contact requirements as defined by regulations and/or caseload sizes as established by the agency (Productivity targets are subject to change depending on agency needs)
  • Provide information and education on CFTSS and home and community based (HCBS) Waiver services to clients, families, other programs or community partners to support informed decision making and enhance community awareness of program services.
  • Successfully complete all required trainings as well as those recommended to improve service delivery to otherwise enhance job performance
  • Attend department and agency meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned within context of job description
Your skills and qualifications:
  • Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of additional training requirements including 12 hours of Introductory Training in the Addictions required within 30 days from date of hire
  • Experience in or knowledge of alcohol/substance abuse delivery system preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
