Responsibilities

  • Conducting assessments of clients and/or developing/following a treatment plan.
  • Assessing the home and other environments of clients and deciding what adjustments are needed.
  • Providing skilled occupational therapy services in the most appropriate environment for the child and the family (e.g. home, clinic, community)
  • Advising on adaptive equipment to help clients with daily activities.
  • Developing physical rehabilitation programs to help clients gain new skills or regain lost skills.
  • Educating caregivers and family members of clients on patient care.
  • Evaluating results and progress of occupational therapy on clients.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge and technical skills to provide clients with the best treatment program available.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
  • Evaluating patient condition regarding physical and basic mental health.
  • Consulting with other care team members to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
Qualifications
  • A bachelor s degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American
    -Occupational Therapy Association).
  • Certified by the National Board for Certification (NBCOT).
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current driver’s license and auto insurance
  • At least 2 years  experience as a pediatric occupational therapist within the last 5 years.
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and occupational/physical therapy programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
  • Ability to show compassion and empathy toward each family’s individual circumstances
  • Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
  • Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans
