Responsibilities
- Conducting assessments of clients and/or developing/following a treatment plan.
- Assessing the home and other environments of clients and deciding what adjustments are needed.
- Providing skilled occupational therapy services in the most appropriate environment for the child and the family (e.g. home, clinic, community)
- Advising on adaptive equipment to help clients with daily activities.
- Developing physical rehabilitation programs to help clients gain new skills or regain lost skills.
- Educating caregivers and family members of clients on patient care.
- Evaluating results and progress of occupational therapy on clients.
- Maintaining professional knowledge and technical skills to provide clients with the best treatment program available.
- Complying with federal, state, and local certification requirements.
- Evaluating patient condition regarding physical and basic mental health.
- Consulting with other care team members to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient
- A bachelor s degree in occupational therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American
-Occupational Therapy Association). - Certified by the National Board for Certification (NBCOT).
- Current CPR certification
- Current driver’s license and auto insurance
- At least 2 years experience as a pediatric occupational therapist within the last 5 years.
- Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and occupational/physical therapy programs.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to take care of clients with different personalities.
- Ability to show compassion and empathy toward each family’s individual circumstances
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Ability to assess patient conditions and work with treatment plans
