Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center is seeking part-time Activities Assistants to join our team in providing active and passive, group and individual activities that enhance the mental, physical, spiritual and social needs of our residents.

Responsibilities/Duties- Assists in the development and implementation of activities within the facility
- Must be able to create interest in the activities and motivate residents to participate daily
- Must possess the ability to exercise good judgement and make confident ethical decisions
- Must be able to effectively manage time in order to complete multiple tasks
- Assists in planning individual community calendars
- Completes proper assessments and other resident forms; maintains other written records
- Writes an individualized care plans for the residents
- Follows the care plan to implement the resident’s social and recreational programs.
- Assists residents and guests by transporting them to and from programs.
- Communicates with nursing staff the residents and guests participating in functions for the purpose of assistance in transporting.
- Attends In-Service training to maintain and improve competencies.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) in English
- Reports to the Director of Activities
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent is required.
- One year experience in a recreation setting is preferred
- Promotes positive image of our facility to residents, guests, families and the community.
- Protects the privacy of residents, guests and employees.
- Must have a basic understanding and empathetic approach to the needs of the resident population
- Must have willingness, patience and an aptitude for working with people.
- Exhibits imagination, creativity and “thinking outside the box”.
- Exhibits dependability and punctuality when working as scheduled.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, and a professional demeanor.
- Projects good judgment and performs all duties satisfactorily while prioritizing projects as assigned.
- Exhibits a spirit of cooperation and has a pleasant, friendly personality.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, push, pull, balance, reach, grasp, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.
- The Activities Assistant must meet the physical requirements of the position which include transporting residents in wheelchairs to/from programs as well as on long walks. The Activities Assistant also runs light fitness programs while seated.
