Position: Neurodiagnostic Lab Supervisor (Inpatient)
Location: Northern

The Stanford Health Care Neurodiagnostic Lab (NDL) serves in areas including EEG, LTM, EMU, EMG, EP, IONM, Autonomics, TCD, and much more. The NDL Inpatient Supervisor role will oversee 10-15 direct reports. The Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and management of the Neurodiagnostic Tech team members. This supervisor provides direction and education, works closely with operational leaders, and has oversight of hiring, termination, and professional growth and development of the Neurodiagnostic Tech team members.

Supervisor performs many of the same clinical duties as subordinate employees.

Changing the Future of the Neurodiagnostic Lab Department: The Neurodiagnostic Lab provides a comprehensive battery of inpatient neurological testing procedures at Stanford Health Care.

  • Our specialty-trained technologists and board-certified neurologists perform electroneurodiagnostic testing in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), intensive care units (ICU), operating rooms, and other specialized locations in the hospital.
  • We have a premier program in intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IONM), which was one of the first to obtain formal accreditation nationwide. The comprehensive clinical service is very active, led by a dedicated team of neurologists and technologists that assist in a wide diversity of surgeries for both pediatric and adult populations.
  • In addition to EEG and IONM, our technologists perform inpatient EP, EMG, and Transcranial Doppler (TCD)

Our NDL is tight knit, collaborative and supportive. Stanford is a level IV (highest level) epilepsy center, offering new methods of treating and diagnosing epilepsy. The mission is to deliver the best available care and beyond, while pushing the forefronts of epilepsy care beyond the ordinary.

Our specialty-trained technologists and board-certified neurologists perform Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) using a variety of neurophysiologic techniques, including EEG (electroencephalogram), SSEPs (somatosensory evoked potentials), EMG (electromyography), and transcranial motor evoked potentials (tcMEPs) testing.

The NDL department allows staff the ability to learn a wide variety of procedures and techniques including: EEG, IONM, EP, TCD and EMG.

Opportunities to Grow:

Allied Health professionals in our Neurodiagnostic Lab Department have access to physician case reviews and weekly neuroscience conferences.

  • Graduate of an Electroneuro diagnostic technology program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation and/or equivalent formal training approved by the Medical Director andHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions
  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job
  • Ability to direct, supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
  • Ability to work independently, calmly, and effectively under stressful conditions
  • Knowledge (extensive) of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology
  • Knowledge and practice of electrical safety relevant to Neurodiagnostic equipment
  • Customer service, clerical and computer skills (i.e. full competency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of multiple electrode application techniques
  • Skill: END pattern recognition to provide clinical descriptive information to epileptologist or surgeon
  • Skill:
    Good technical aptitude
  • Must be able to work On-Call shifts as needed
Licenses and Certifications - required to have two (2) of the licenses / certifications listed below:
  • Registered EEG Technologist – R. EEG T. (ABRET) required or
  • Certification for Autonomic Professionals - CAP (ABRET) required or
  • Registered Evoked Potential Technologist - R. EP T. (ABRET) required or
  • Certification of Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring – CNIM (ABRET) required or
  • Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist - CNCT (AANEM) required or
  • Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist - R.NCS.T. (AAET) required . or
  • Certification for Long Term Monitoring – CLTM (ABRET) required .
