Job Description:

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reports to the Admin Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (M.R.I.) Technologist provides accurate and precise M.R.I. scans to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment under the direct supervision of the attending Radiologist.

Under the direction of the Admin Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, and in consultation with the Medical Director, the M.R.I. Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients needs.

Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Responsible for magnet safety practices and screening of all patients and employees who enter magnet area.
On call responsibilities required. If Technologist is trained in multiple modalities, (C.T., M.R.I., Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology), on call responsibilities will be assumed for two of the aforementioned modalities during the call period. Example: (Ultrasound/Nuclear medicine or C.T./Radiography).
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, one (1) year M.R.I. experience is preferred. ARMRIT, or equal, certification preferred. Must have and maintain current BLS Card, required. CRT preferred. Must have and maintain IV certification or obtain within three (3) months of assignment to department.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.

To perform this job successfully, one (1) year M.R.I. experience preferred. ARMRIT, or equal, certification preferred. Must have and maintain current BLS certification required. CRT preferred. Must have and maintain IV certification or obtain within three (3) months of assignment to department.
