The Wellness Educator & Outreach Specialist serves as an ambassador for Create Healthy and the Wellness Center by promoting healthy lifestyles throughout the community. This position develops and delivers engaging educational programs focused on nutrition, physical activity, chronic disease prevention, and overall wellness. The specialist builds relationships with community organizations, employers, schools, healthcare providers, and civic groups to increase awareness and improve community health.
The ideal candidate is an energetic educator who enjoys connecting with people, speaking before groups, and creating innovative wellness programs that inspire individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. This individual is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting health outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and support organizational goals.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach
- Serve as a representative of Create Healthy and the Wellness Center at community events, health fairs, business functions, and educational programs.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, healthcare providers, schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups.
- Identify outreach opportunities that increase community engagement and expand Create Healthy’s visibility.
- Coordinate and participate in health screenings, wellness events, and educational campaigns.
- Travel throughout the service area to conduct presentations and outreach activities as needed.
Health Education
- Design, develop, and deliver educational presentations on topics including:
- Healthy eating and nutrition
- Physical activity and exercise
- Weight management
- Stress management / mental health
- Chronic disease prevention
- Healthy aging
- Behavior change strategies
- Adapt presentations to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
- Develop educational materials and handouts.
- Stay current on evidence-based health and wellness practices.
Program Development
- Create innovative wellness initiatives that support Create Healthy’s mission.
- Assist in planning and implementing community wellness challenges and special events.
- Evaluate community health needs and recommend new programming.
- Collaborate with Wellness Center staff to promote services and educational opportunities.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Collect participant and program data to measure outcomes and effectiveness.
- Track health metrics, participation trends, and program results.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports summarizing outreach activities and program outcomes.
- Assist leadership with reporting and community health impact reports.
- Utilize spreadsheets and reporting software to organize and present data.
Marketing & Member Engagement
- Promote Wellness Center services through community presentations and networking.
- Work collaboratively with the Communications team to develop educational content for newsletters, social media, and website.
- Encourage participation in Wellness Center programs through relationship-building and follow-up communication.
- Maintain a positive and professional image of Create Healthy in all community interactions.
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or similar degree plan
Preferred Education
- Certified Health Coach – National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching
- Create Healthy is willing to support successful candidate in pursuit of certification after hire
Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in community health, wellness education, public health, health promotion, or a related field.
- Experience developing educational presentations and facilitat
* ng group instruction. - Experience organizing community events or outreach initiatives.
- Experience collecting and analyzing program data preferred.
