Clinical Pharmacist – Cardiology Focus

• Job Summary:
  • The Cardiology Care Team pharmacist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for patients in cardiac intensive care or step-down units including order verification, rounds, heart failure consults, discharge counseling, and pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation.
  • Schedule – rotating 1stand 2nd shift – 2 weeks of 1stshift and 1 week of 2ndshift, every 3rdweekend (1stshift – , 2nd shift – )
• Responsibilities
  • A Pharmacist is responsible for performance and/or supervision of various aspects of the medication use system including but not limited to therapeutic recommendations, advocate for patient safety, preparation, distribution, monitoring, oversight of administration, and billing. This practitioner will be primarily based on the Cardiology Care Team and may cross-cover other areas as needed. The pharmacist’s focus is on the quality of care through comprehensive medication management.
• Qualifications
  • Cardiology experience is preferred.
  • Residency training PGY1 or comparable acute care experience required

• Education:
  
  4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification.
  • PharmD, preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy. Oncology experience preferred for oncology roles, required.
  • For Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship roles: ASHP - accredited PGY2 Infectious Disease residency OR minimum of 2 years of equivalent clinical pharmacy experience in infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship, required.
• Licensure/Certification:
  Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other approved certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role, required.
• Additional Skills (required):
  Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
