POSITION
PURPOSE:
Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal,state,and local standards,guidelines and regulations, our establishedpoliciesandprocedures,and as maybe directedbythe Administrator, to assure than an on-goingprogramofactivities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSOFPOSITION:
- Establishesanactivityprogramofwidevarietyforresidents,enhancingtheresidents'"wellness",inharmonywiththeoverallplanofcaresetforthbythe
Health Care Team . - Plans,implements,supervisesandsupportsalloperationsoftheactivitiesdepartment.
- Directsandorganizestherapeutic activitiestoassistresidentstomeetcareplanobjectives.
- Responsibleforensuringseven(7) dayactivityplanisdevelopedandadheredto.
- Regulatescontentof programinaccordancewithresidents'abilities,needsand interests.
Programmustmeet Federal and State guidelines. - Maintainsdocumentationon each resident including assessments,care plans, and progress notes. Documentation reflects residents'reactions and evidence of progressor other change of condition.
- Counselsandencouragesresidentstodevelopindependentleisureactivities.
- Organizes and coordinatesspecialoutings and accompaniesresidentson outings such as baiigames,sightseeing,and/orpicnics.
- Develops monthly activitiesthatareseasonalandappropriateforthetypeofresidentserved.
- Participates in departmental budgetplanningandsuppliesmonthlyreport to Administrator.
- Supervisesandconductsin-servicetrainingforstaffmembersontopicspertainingtoactivitiesandrecreation.
- Understandsandadherestotheguidelinesof"Residents Rights".
- Perform additional dutiesasassigned
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Prefer candidate to have SRNA license.
Activities Director Certification required.
Associate's Degree preferred plus a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be a qualified therapeuticrecreationspecialistoranactivitiesprofessionalwhoislicensedbythestate,andiseligibleforcertification as a recreation specialist or as an activities professional.
Experience in a social or recreation program within the last 5 years; or must be a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
Musthavehighenergy,creative thinking,andstrong leadership skills.
