Outpatient Mammography Technologist

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an Outpatient Mammography Technologist to provide high-quality breast imaging in a patient-centered, academic health setting. Responsibilities include performing screening and diagnostic mammograms, positioning and educating patients, operating advanced imaging equipment, and maintaining accurate records and quality control. The technologist will collaborate with radiologists and care teams, follow radiation safety and regulatory standards, and participate in continuous learning within MUSC’s innovative, research-driven environment.

• Perform high-quality outpatient mammography exams following MUSC protocols and safety standards
• Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and privacy
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain mammography and related imaging equipment
• Verify patient identification, review orders, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and care teams to support timely diagnostic decisions
• Apply radiation safety principles and maintain regulatory compliance and quality control logs
• Assist with scheduling, workflow optimization, and patient throughput in outpatient settings
• Participate in continuing education, training, and process improvement initiatives

• PACS and EMR documentation
• Quality control and image quality assessment
• Breast anatomy and pathology basics
• Infection control procedures
• Patient communication and education
• Regulatory compliance in radiology (ACR, FDA, MQSA)
