North Oaks Communities LLC is seeking a full-time Community Life Services Activities Assistant who wants to make a difference in the lives of seniors every day. The Activities Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Community Life Services department in Independent Living as well as scheduling, coordinating, planning and promoting activities and trips.

Shift and

Schedule:

Full-time Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.

Essential Duties:
  • 1. Creates, copies and distributes monthly and weekly calendar.
  • 2. Creates function sheets and catering requests for resident events and distributes to appropriate departments.
  • 3. Researches and plans group trips, calculates trip fees, and informs residents of details. Maintains trip book and trip reservations. Coordinates trips with Transportation Coordinator.
  • 4. Attends Resident Association Activity Committee Meetings and assists them in planning trips and activities, including but not limited to book club and special events. Coordinates ordering, preparing and advertising weekly movies.
  • 5. Publicizes all events and trips, including creating flyers and sign-up sheets and updating the internal television system and community bulletin boards.
  • 6. Serves as the receptionist to cover breaks daily and as needed.
  • 7. Answers the telephone to assist residents and takes action as necessary.
  • 8. Accompanies residents on trips as assigned.
  • 9. Assist with programs and events as assigned.
  • 10. Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
  • 11. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • 12. Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.
Other Duties:
  • 1. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • 2. Provides department support in the absence of the director.
  • 3. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  • 4. HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
  • 5. OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
  • 1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively in writing and orally, and perform simple arithmetic.
  • 2. Experience working with the elderly preferred.
  • 3. Knowledge of multi-media technology preferred.
  • 4. Proficient with Word and Desktop Publishing Applications.
  • 5. Possess strong organizational skills.
  • 6. Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirements.
Physical Requirements /

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work with others in setting up for events, including lifting, stooping, stretching, and using a step stool. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.; must be able to complete small set-ups independently; must be able to assist residents physically in boarding the bus, sitting, standing, and walking. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required.

May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
